Petroleum Engineering Colleges

no im pretty sure its not a waste of time to get a masters…and im not picking it just for the money. i said i know fo rsure i want to do engineering and PE seems interesting to me so how is that doing it for the money?

Everything I’ve heard says it is a waste of time to get a masters. I’m PetE at School of Mines btw.

If you go back to grad school, get an MBA.

Panther, I don’t care what you “think”, I am telling you how it is.

Unlike geoscientists, where a masters degree is pretty much the norm (especially with the major companies), most of the PEs I know do NOT have masters degree. Altho - a few have MBAs.

ok ill take your word. would you recommend going to PSU instate then or paying out of state to go to like texas or texas a&m

What is the total cost difference?

around 20-30 for a&m then like 40-60 thousand for texas

Keep in mind - those are 3 VERY different schools/campuses. And, UT-Austin is not easy to get into, especially for Engr. Assuming you are familiar with PSU, I would strongly recommend visiting the other campuses before making a decision.

I do know that A&M has a phenomenal ENGR alumni network all over the world. Every year we were overseas there was a alumni get-together of some sort and I was amazed at the number of people who were alums.

Is that cost difference for 4 years?

If so, I think A&M might be worth the extra money.

yes for 4 years just an approximation. what about the whole marcellus shale boom in the northeast?
