Petroleum Engineering Internship

This was posted on TAMU web site:

Code:
"I'm a senior at Texas Tech and almost every junior and senior got multiple internship & full-time offers last semester. With oil prices around $90 +/-, I don't see why it would be difficult to get a job in the oil industry. Some companies are coming back for the Spring job fair to hire more interns and full-timers. This rarely happens, as oil companies usually fill up all their openings during the Fall semester. "

Many students in TAMU PE still looking for summer internship opportunities. Can any of you help out for the hard working Senior and Junior and give them leads and pointer. Feel free to go post on the TAMU web site.

PS: I have nothing to gain, neither of my 2Ss are in PE. Just another mom looking out for all the hard working students as I feel for their anxiety during this economic hard time.
Thanks!

Thank you ucla011 for posting this question, but it doesn’t seem like students at Tech are very active on this site.

I wish someone from Tech with the actual numbers on how many students received internships in Petroleum Engineering would post their data.

At A&M the department sends out an email showing how many students have a job and how many are still looking. Does Tech do this?

Not a PE major but I do have quite a few friends that either are doing internships or just started working fulltime. Don’t have the numbers or any real information but when I was looking for jobs (business major) last semester…there really were many internship/fulltime opportunities listed on the career center website. This information is available to tech students/alumni only but I guess if you need to find an internship…it can’t hurt to email the career center and ask. Not saying they would give that kind of information but its worth a shot.

Just got accepted into petroleum engineering at Tech. I got denied by UT and A&M but got accepted into OU’s petroleum engineering as well. I am also curious to see how many undergrads get internships and jobs after graduating.

I am looking for an internship, I am senior in petroleum engineering. But I realize that you have to be referred or know someone in those petroleum companies to get an internship. My phone number is 443-813-3018. My email is nagha12@yahoo.fr
Thanks a lot
romeo12 is online now

I am going to Texas Tech this fall too for petroleum engineering. I dint even applied to any other school beside tech. Gwad!! m so excited to be a red raider.
Did you guys got any departmental scholarship coz they haven’t offered me anything like that yet.

Not to randomly be butting in here but I was wondering if you guys could tell me how hard it is to get and keep at least a 3.5 gpa as a Petroleum engineer. I am an incoming freshmen at TAMU and am looking into the major. For a comparison how hard is Petr e conmpared to say, civil e or chem e? How much time do you have to spend studying per week? Is it hard to have a social life?

Dude, wrong forum. This is Raiderland, not Aggieland.
