What do you guys think about a major in petroleum engineering with a minor in computer science. I want to major in PetE, but I also think CS is very interesting, but do not like the jobs that come after graduation, so I would like to minor in it. I realize that PetE is very difficult by itself so I was just wondering what you guys think about having a minor along with it?
Hi! You certainly can, however I discourage you to do so. I think that a minor in computer science wouldn’t be that beneficiary to you when you get a job. Conversely, a minor in business and administration or management would be much better due to the fact that most PetE after a few years on the workforce, they move to a management/administration position on rigs and inside the company itself. However, for that I would encourage you doing an MBA, instead of the minor, which would be much more valuable at the end of the day. Hope I helped clearing your thoughts !
