<p>Hey guys/ladies:</p>

<p>Currently attending NJIT in Newark, NJ as a ME, but looking to transfer next fall as a PeteE. Im interested in this field and yes ive done research. Couple of questions</p>

<li><p>Im really interested in going to UAF (Alaska Fairbanks) and TAMU. mainly. ....then maybe LSU or Penn State. How good is the petroleum engineer program in UAF, job rate after graduation, easily find a job outside of Alaska maybe?</p></li>
<li><p>I no i researched about job conditions, and whats the job shifts like, for example, 3 weeks off and 3 weeks on the job, etc? </p></li>

<li><p>UAF is good, but the job prospects are not as high today as they were in 2010. <p>I heard the job prospects are still good and i really wanna start a family, i no its weeks on and off but it cant be thatt bad where u gone for month. and constant relocation, like how many times? Thanks!</p>

<p>Most PetE jobs are not “weeks on/weeks off” jobs. They are office jobs. It just depends on what you want. There are opportunities in domestic or international, at majors or independents, in drilling or reservoir, etc. By the time you finish a degree, you will have a good idea of what you want. Most of the PetE’s I know have either never relocated or have only relocated once or twice in their entire careers.</p>

<p>Thank you Barfly, i just need to know how UAF is in petroleum engineering, im considering UAF or UT or TAMU…but i really like UAF the most…can any1 or you Barfly, describe, like job rates, the school, environment on campus. etc</p>

<p>Alaska produces a lot of oil, the petroleum program at UAF is good. Not sure what else to say…you’ll either like Fairbanks or really hate it. Stay warm.</p>
