Petroleum Engineering

Im about to be a sophomore in college and I am doing engineering, but I am having difficulty deciding what kind of engineering I want to major in. I was thinking either petroleum or biomedical, but I’m leaning towards petroleum. I want to know the life style of a petroleum engineer. Whats the salary like? Do you work far from home? Are the hours long? Will I be able to see my family everyday? Can I make over 6 figures by sitting in the office working instead of on the field? Do you enjoy what you do? If you are a petroleum engineer and are currently working please help me find the answers to these questions. Also if you are a biomedical engineer I would love to know how that is like!

Petroleum engineers’ job prospects and pay levels will be heavily influenced by oil prices, which can be quite volatile.
