i'd like to see if there's anyone else majoring in petroleum engineering. post here if you are.

I am intrested. I think I might be leaning more toward mechanical engineering though.

DP

both are difficult but good to major in in my opinion. PE is more narrow and mechanical is much broader but I think both will lead to good futures.

Electrical Engineering for me. What are the job outlooks on this?

i think any engineering major will be good, i'm actually going to get my BS in PE, work for a few years, and then get an MBA and go into management.

Dude, I'm planning on doing the exact same thing lol... I want to manage an engineering company one day maybe even own one. I'm going to get my Master's in EE though and then maybe consider an MBA.

haha thats good to hear nitinkarya. which dorms did u choose to stay in?

I'm doing petroleum. I've already met Dr. Holditch and he's a great guy. Reminds me of Jimmy Johnson.

awesome! glad to meet other PE's. how do you sit in on a petroleum engineering class? do we have to request online or something?

Is it too late to apply for the good dorms? I haven't applied for housing yet. I don't know if I should go to A&M or UT? I got a $20,000 scholarship from A&M but nothing from UT yet. Any advice?

I assume you have been accepted to A&M along with that great scholarship. If so, then I would DEFINITELY recommend going ahead and applying for on campus housing. It's early enough in the process that you should still have a good choice of dorms. You can always cancel if you decide to go to t.u. instead (sorry, that's an Aggie's version of addressing that college in Austin). You'll have to leave a deposit which you may or may not get back depending on when you cancel. But it may be worth it for the piece of mind.

yeah u can always cancel though watch out for the deadlines, they start keeping a portion of the money after awhile

Oh ok. Thanks for the advice. I'm really thinking about A&M now because that is a pretty good scholarship in my mind. It's basically one full year free. UT hasn't offered me anything yet but I hope they will because that's my number one choice. Sorry lol. I visited A&M and it was pretty big and I think I'll like it but I'm not sure. I still have to visit UT.

i think UT gives less scholarships, at least thats what my friends say.
