Is attending lec and taking notes enough to pass the 3 midterms?

i’m fairly sure you will need the reader. i’m taking the class too. have you gotten any notifications about the class regarding section and all that?

nope havent gotten anything yet. what number are you on the waitlist?

yeah, i think ill get it since im taking the optional discussion too

where are they selling the reader btw? its doesnt say in the syllabus

I passed the class without purchasing the reader (I wouldn’t have read the articles anyway). You can get by by going to review sessions and decent multiple choice/bsing ability.

Sorry for double post, but I also wanted to point out that the ugsi’s gave out answers during reviews in two of the three review sessions. It’s not meant to be a difficult class, but YMMV. I’m pretty sure that almost everyone in the class passed.

Also, for hw, the ugsi’s require a typed reflection on the topic for that week. You are given 3 prompts and you pick one. One usually deals with the topics discussed in lecture, one deals with the reading for the week and the other one asks your opinion on a controversial topic that you dealt with that week. So you can do the homework without reading anything. (Unless they change that this year)

cool thanks for the tip zjodak. So they haven’t passed out the codes for section right Waiting?

zjodak:do you know if the reader actually even changes from semester to semester? i have two from the past two years but I dont know if they change the actual guest speakers or what

Batman: nada. i think they got the midterm dates wrong in the syllabus (the dates are for Tuesdays when they should be Mondays…)

i believe the reader does change by a few articles, but not that much unless they do some complete overhaul.

so what copier are they selling the readers at? i was gonna carry my old one there and compare the content with it to see if it was worth buying…

I am about number 150 on the waitlist so what are my chances of getting in? I heard you get in the class if you sign up for a discussion section, any truths to this? Any advice on how I can improve my chances of getting in the class?

I’m currently 178. I heard we all get in though. Cross fingers
