im an instate high school junior who's looking to pursue a career in pharmacy. There are only three pharmacy programs in NC, UNC being the best. If I applied to the pre-pharmacy program at chapel hill, would it be harder for me to be admitted? UNC has the 3rd best PharmD program (post undergrad) in the United States. I'm taking the SAT's this May.
What kind of stats would i need to get admitted with major in Pharmacy? What should my SAT scores, GPA, Rank and extracurriculars be?
Has anyone been or is enrolled in the pharmacy program?

You don't enter Carolina admitted to the pharmacy school--you have to apply later, during your sophomore year. You have to take the PCAT, and if you score well enough, you'll get an interview. From there, you'll either be accepted or denied, I believe.

what kind of stats and preparation do you need to ensure entry into the Pharmacy School? Would instate help? It's my dream to get into, but im still far off.

They only look at your UNC records because you apply after you've been there for almost two years. High school stuff and state residency won't matter. Once you're at Carolina, make sure you have good grades and are involved with some things. I think the most important thing is your score on the PCAT, though.

its it hard to get good grades (A's and B's or straight A's) while at Carolina? Especially when you're taking hard classes like the pre-pharm. Do most people get in straight after taking the 2 years of courses or do they have to wait and reply again?
Know any prestigious schools nearby that guarantee you in the PharmD program (0+6) straight out of high school? I know Rutgers University in NJ does that...

what kind of options can I take if I don't get into PharmD school? Any B.S. or B.A.'s that would make use of my pre-pharm courses?

First off, I wouldn't pick a college based on one specific major, a lot of times people change their major, or find out that they just can't do all the prereqs. I also don't think that your intended major choice that you put on your application has any real bearing on your admission, seeing as how you don't declare a major until your 2nd semester sophmore year.

well not for Rutgers. They have an exclusive 0+6 Pharmd program. If i don t get intoo a 6 year one, and try to go for a 2+4 year, I may never end up in a good pharm school!! I can always get my bachelors at Carolina after I get a Pharmd, working part time as a PHARMACIST (55k)!
