I am a senior in high school tight now and I want to become a pharmacist. What college major should i pick? Does SUNY at Stony Brook provide a pharmacy program?

You can major in anything you want, but if you want to major in a science, then bio, chem, biochem, or other bio majors will do.

Stony Brook doesn't offer a PharmD but you could take your prerequisites there and apply to pharmacy schools after 2-4 years. Buffalo is the only SUNY with a PharmD program, although you can do your prerequistes there or at any other school. Check on the requirements for PharmD though - they seem to vary alot between schools! The other NY schools with PharmD programs are Albany College of Pharmacy (2+4), St. John's Univ (0-6), LIU (2+4), St John Fisher (2+4), and, I believe, Touro (PharmD only).

St. John's offers a six year program, it's a great deal but its very competitive.
The program is really good, its not ranked that high but it's a great program. Dont be afraid from the tuition, st. john's gives out serious money.

i just rejected from St John's University for Pharm D, (sigh)

You don't need a degree to go to pharmacy school, let alone a major. You could take your prereqs at a community college and transfer so it would be cheaper. Check out a few pharmacy schools to find out what their requirements are.

Dear mike,
Sorry. You have other options. What do you plan? Pharmacy is outrageously competitive, especially the ones that guarantee admission to incoming freshman. Good luck.

As others have mentioned, there is no need to declare a major.

Degrees are not a requirement for pharmacy schools, as long as you take the required prerequisites (hopefully ace them) and and also do well on the pharmacy college admissions test you have a good shot of getting into programs.

ULM has a good pharmacy school.
