I don't know if this the right place to post this but here goes. I just got accepted into both the pharmacy and school of arts and sciences. I really want to be a doctor. But I am not sure if I could make it. I hear that 50 percent get in after people get weeded out. So I was wondering if I could do something like this. Go to pharmacy and apply to medical school in my senior or junior year ? Or is this not possible ?

The only problem with that is that if you decide to go into Pharmacy school and drop out mid-way you get nothing (no bachelors..nothing). However, if you get into med school while you are in pharmacy school and decide to go...you just wasted all that time in pharmacy school. But I don't know if its possible to do that...?

Also would you really want to put all the stress of getting into med-school on you WHILE you're in pharmacy school? Like studying for MCATs, etc. Pharmacy school isn't easy so trying to get into med-school while your in Pharmacy (if that's possible) could be quite stressful.

Did you apply to any 7-year med programs?

I applied but my counselor sent my stuff it in late. :(
But I dought I would have got in anyway.
The decision is tough. Ugggh

It would be highly impractical to go to pharmacy school if you really want to be a doctor. Pharmacy school is very rigorous, expensive, and time consuming.

isnt it the regular tuition rate at rutgers?

I think he means expensive in the sense that it is 6 years worth of tuition.

I agree; going to the pharm school would be impractical if your heart's set on med. a lot of my friends who are pre-med are in sas; they're just planning on taking a full year's worth of bio, chem, physics, and orgo, which is the usual route.

also, you'd have a better chance keeping up a high gpa for the med school adcom if the program you're taking is not as rigorous as pharm's. something to think about.
