I’m a sophomore in high school in NJ and was wondering what my chances are for Rutgers and university of the sciences 0-6 programs.
I was also curious if senior year counts with what classes I’m taking because I will take a good amount of AP classes that year as well as physics reg, which Rutgers recommends to take. I want to make sure they look at senior year too since I’ll take many science AP classes that year.
-Freshmen: Hon alg 2, Hon eng, spanish 2 reg, Bio hon
GPA: 4.0(most u can get in my school is this) and weighted: 5.75/6.0
-Sophomore: Hon precalc, spanish 3 hon, hon eng 2, hon chem, history 1 reg
Getting good A’s so far so most prob will be: GPA: 4.0 and weighted: 5.8/6.0
-Junior classes: Hon spanish 4, AP ENG, AP Calc 1, history 2 reg, AP bio
-Senior classes: AP spanish 5(maybe), AP Calc 2, phsyics reg, AP chem, AP eng, AP world cultures
Also, I’ll be taking the new 1600 pt SAT, and was wondering about what score will be needed for admission to rutgers and USP. I have very smart kids in HS so is class rank very important?
Is the ACT and SAT 2’s a must or not really because I was planning on only taking the SAT’S.
Looks like their scale is from a 4-4.5 but in my school u cant get more than a 4 for weighted no matter how many AP u took, so im guessing theyll change everyones gpa scale to be the same since most schools r different
Since you’re instate for Rutgers I would definitely apply when the time comes and early in fall of senior year.
If you don’t get into Brunswick, there are also 2+4 options with Newark and Camden campus I believe.
Also look at some of the schools in nearby states. I think USciences is pretty expensive.
I think Ohio Northern and Albany College of Pharmacy have 6 year programs. They also give out some merit scholarships. Duquesne is in PA and offers a new early assurance program and scholarships for 6 years.
Temple also has pharmacy and gives good scholarships.
This is just info I have gathered while my daughter was looking at pharmacy schools.
I think you should maybe switch AP Bio with AP Chem. You took honors chem this year so it would be better imo to take the AP version next year. Then maybe also take physics that year. Then senior year you wouldn’t have 5 APs and physics. Also does your school offer economics? Might be better than taking AP world, around here they take that in freshman/sophomore year usually.
You are a grade ahead in math and language so that should be in your favor.
Ya they do offer economics but I was going to take that senior year i think. And im actually ok with having more ap classes senior year (which im not sure if that is a good decision or not for colleges) because my junior year is going to be mainly prepping for the sat since i will need a good score on that so i dont want to make it too stressful with classes. I’m still gonna take 3 ap and 1 honors junior year though.
Ya i had ap chem at first for junior year but im going to change it since ap bio in my school is easier than ap chem. I think that has to do with the teacher though. And im not taking ap history 2 next year that will be my only regular class (history 2 acc) since it’ll be time consuming and my friends in it couldnt get an A. Hopefully that won’t affect my application too much if i dont take AP. If it would i guess ill just take it…
By the way when i stated “And im actually ok with having more ap classes senior year (which im not sure if that is a good decision or not for colleges)” i meant that i hope it’s a good decision to make my junior year slightly easier than senior year by not doubling up with physics until next year in order to well prepare for Sat’s.
I don’t know. You should talk to your guidance counselor and maybe talk to some current pharmacists about your goals.
You should have enough time for SAT prep, you can take it spring of this year and then work some more on prep this summer and take it again in September.
