PharmD and MBA?

Is it even possible to go after a PharmD and MBA at the same time? Or is there like a special course of plan? Because I really want to go into business, but my parents are all about a safe pharmacist job. Is there a special order I have to do it in and how hard will it be? >.<

You could get your PharmD, and then get your MBA. I don't know of any programs that run concurrently. Sometimes an employer will pay for his pharmacist to get the MBA...saves $$$! If not, it would be easier to work as a pharmacist while getting the MBA rather than the reverse. Pharmacists make a decent wage and have tons of flexibility in scheduling. Quite a few pharmacy techs and pharmacists I know were able to attend college while working.

You can't do both at the same time, but like lkf725 said, you can get your MBA after the PharmD degree. That's what I'm planning on doing

Thanks! I think I'll want to do that. So... I'll be 23 when I get my PharmD... and older when I get my MBA. (Ahh... how life passes by.)

QTHoller, there is a program like this. USC offers a 5 year dual degree program for pharmD and mba. http://www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/pharmd/programs/dual/business.html

^ Ahh... that program sounds really interesting. But what do they mean by a bacheurlarette (bad spelling) degree being required? Is that like an associates degree?

I think what they mean is that you have to have a bachelor degree prior to applying to this program since its pharmD and mba. PharmD by itself does not require a bachelor degree at usc.

9 years of debt to pay once you get your degrees...

Eeks! I think I'll stick to the Pharm first and hopefully get a job that will pay for me to get an MBA.
