deep, man

off to class.

arjun, what in the WORLD are you talking about?

Arjun, you're ruining this forum.

wow this thread went WAY off topic

Back to the original topic, anyone know when this facility is going to open? I don't think the article mentioned that. ALthough I think bill gates is a sleazebag, this new building sounds awesome and he may actually be becoming a decent person.

do you know what i love...I love the fact that EVERY single thread that Arjun posts on ends up being a flaming fest where everyone teams up against him. Arjun, some advice buddy, dont show your face at Cornell...because if you do, you'll most likely be stoned to death. LOL. Arjun, you need to grow up and quit being such a gh3y pu$$y. NUFF SAID :D

Don't worry, Arjun won't have the chance to get demolished at Cornell because he won't show his face because he'll be sleeping any of the times (that is, the 8pm-2am sleep pattern) that one would normally go out ;-)

"Although I think bill gates is a sleazebag, this new building sounds awesome and he may actually be becoming a decent person." Ah, so commit a sin, and donate the fruits thereof, and suddenly, you and the saints will be crackin beer bottles open for each other in heaven. I'll go ask my rabbi about that one.

I do not think Bill Gates at all 'sinned,' but that he took advantage of an opportunity, while others did not. But to say that one can buy off one's sins so long as one donates the proceeds to 'good' and 'right' causes, is to obliterate morality. Jack Abramoff would be no more a man had he decided to give all his ill-gotten wealth to charity. Pardon my confusion.

"I do not think Bill Gates at all 'sinned,' but that he took advantage of an opportunity"

How about stealing the Mac GUI code and using it for Windows? If he hadn't done that Microsoft would never have gotten off the ground.

And no, good deeds don't undo good mistakes (although the Jewish religion says otherwise, but we can debate that one somewhere that is not this forum), but at least he's heading in the right direction now.

But I still want to know when this thing will be done and if I'm ever going to benefit from it. Also - will Macs and Linux be allowed in the building?

Shoofy, what I think of Bill Gates' actions is obviously limited to what I actually know. I don't know enough to judge conclusively whether he sinned or not.

"although the Jewish religion says otherwise"
I was arguing with my own opinion. It is commonly said in Judaism that "charity saves [one] from death." But this doesn't seem to accord with everything else, all the time. I scarcely consider myself knowledgeable of Judaism, and definitely would not cite it as an authority in an online forum, which is preposterous. Though I am orthodox, I am skeptical of many rabbis, especially their theology, philosophy etc. (ie. the more intellectual disputes, especially regarding science).
