Hey everyone

I am currently a freshman at UCB and my phase one Telebears is tomorrow. I am considering a major in econ as well as going on the premed path. With that said, I would need to take several econ prereqs as well as premed reqs next semester to avoid falling behind.

My potential schedules for next semester currently stand as:

1) Chem3a, Chem3aL, Stats20, Math53
2) Chem3a, Chem3aL, Math53, Econ1
3) Chem3a, Chem3aL, Stats20, Econ1

and this doesn't include the 4th class ill be taking (i have no idea what it will be... maybe some kind of PoliSci?)

i believe that i can potentially telebears three classes tomorrow because apparently 3AL is what you need to get into the class (2 units), and both 53 and stats or econ are 4 unit classes, with the grand total coming to 10 units.

so the question is: which schedule (1, 2, or 3) would be less intensive and wont absolutely wreck me next semester? Please take into consideration that I am currently taking Math 1a (so I am attempting to skip directly to 53 b/c I have CC credits)

thanks! :)

If you are a potential Econ major, you should take Econ 1 ASAP. That would be my advice. For the others, just depends on your preference really. I guess I’d go with 53 while calculus is still fresh in your mind.

well definitely 2 or 3. It depends on how well u are doing right now. 53 is definitely harder than 1A, u’ll be learning all new things. You have to also consider the fact that Chem 3A is ALOT hard than Chem 1 if u are taking that right now. So depending on ur background, u can either take 2 for the challenge or 3 if you want to play it safe. Also check out who’s teaching those class, it might help u decide wat to take

hmm taking econ sooner is definitely an option. heh it seems like either way my schedule for the next 2 years is going to be rather rough…

leftist: is it necessary to take 1b right now? ive heard from many that mcat doesn’t really test on 1b material and med schools wont care about it as long as you have upper division bio class under your belt before you apply. i was thinking about taking it during my junior spring or even as late as senior fall because i can then avoid taking 1b with a really hard lab class (3aL/3BL/1AL/ and maybe physics?) and ending up with like 8 hours of lab a week :|

any other suggestions?
telebears in approximately 15 hours…eek!
