I’m a sophomore in college beginning to think about what I want to do after finishing my bachelor’s degree in microbiology. I currently volunteer in a lab in the biomedical sciences department, and I’ve started looking into biomedical sciences PhD programs as I greatly enjoy the research, and like that the field seems broader than microbiology. I found lots of information about the academic route after a PhD, but little information about going into industry. What kinds of jobs would I be applying for and at what places? Any job titles or big company names would be useful. Also, what kind of salary could I expect? I’ve combed through all the biomedical sciences threads on here and no one seems to talk about what happens after you get a PhD, especially if you don’t stay in academia.
