phd into law school?

i am an undergraduate student majoring in english. i have been entertaining thoughts of both english graduate school as well as law school, and i am wondering about this scenario:

if i were to get into a top 10 english grad school (and hopefully funded by fellowships, etc.), and later decide i would rather enter the legal profession, how would it affect my chances of getting into a top 14 law school (or top 25) compared to applying right after undergrad?

Won't help much, if at all. Undergraduate GPA rules all in LS applications, advanced degrees, work experience, etc. are very slight factors in almost all cases.

but would it hurt my chances? or would i have about the same chance as i would if i applied to enter right after undergrad?
