PhD university changing

Last week I started a fully funded PhD in a UK University.
Now I have received an offer from another UK University (fully funded).
I would like to give up the first to accept and move to the second one.
My plan is to formally inform my supervisor next week, give back the first salary and start the new PhD in January 2013.
Do you know if there are any constrain that prevent that?

Do you think it is better to inform the second University that I have already started a PhD project?

Thanks

Depending on whether or not you can withdraw from classes without penalties, you might also be liable for the classes you registered for.

With that being said, the research world is very small. If you decide to go through this, you will burn the bridge with your current University and with your current supervisor. This might bite you in your behind in the future. I would not recommend it.
