Guess he makes history.

Yeah, I can’t imagine the the sense of accomplishment he must have right now.

I love him…he deserves it…so much talent

If I had the talent I would swim that much just to be able to eat 10k calories a day! lol

I think it’s 12K, and it’s disgusting what he eats.

Planehumpers

Um… like a 6 egg omelet, 3 pancakes, and like 6 sandwiches… for breakfast

For the rest of his meals he eats out and enough for a family of 4.

This is wayy too big of a story around here. He’s like a hometown hero (yeah, Ann Arbor adopted him because he went to UMich). I like him, I really do, and I’m happy for him, but truth be told, I could go a day without hearing his name lol.

seriously though…i’m not trying to discredit phelps cuz he’s a great athlete but i think there are way too many categories in swimming making it really easy to win 8 gold’s if u are a great athlete in one sport and he’s getting too much credit for this

for instance, they can also make a billion categories in basketball…have free throw shooting, dunk contest with judges, 3 pt shooting, 3 on 3 basketball etc…then maybe Kobe or Lebron can win 8 gold’s and be considered “the greatest athlete on the planet”

but it doesn’t matter though…after the olympics, nobody cares about swimming

[cbs2chicago.com - Eating Machine: Michael Phelps’ 12,000-Calorie Diet](http://cbs2chicago.com/sports/michael.phelps.diet.2.794659.html)

The guy drinks 2000 calories of energy drinks in a day. That’s about 16 energy drinks. It’s amazing he’s not dead from that. But then again…he swims for 5 hours a day and burns 5000 calories from that work out.

No wonder Ian Thorpe retired.

The toll of 5 hours a day, the diets etc must have all been too much…

Who’s is this Phelps person? I mean, I can’t find anything about anyone called “Phelps” on NBC. The comprehensive coverage is awesome, but if we can’t see any of these athletes that people seem to be excited about, what’s the point of watching? Come on, two minutes of water polo coverage is way too much for a sport that’s not even that popular. Where’s the beach volleyball, with the scantily clad men that girls swoon over, NBC?

lol Ian Thorpe…

THE THORPEDO!

I personally think it’s totally unfair that I don’t get to watch the guys play beach volleyball without a shirt… I mean look at women’s.

And Phelps is beyond incredible.

this doesnt have anytihing to do with high school move it plz

He has to be burning more than that, because he’d still be consuming 7K of excess calories.

He is pretty much amazing.

We are currently discussing this in the Cafe.

i loved the last race..it was really awesome, whether or not phelps was on the team..the other us memebers also did great!

The three threads I frequent all have him in the top 5 threads. It’s annoying at this point :(.
