I have a few questions about PhiDE:

How hard is it to get in?
What do you do in PhiDE once you're in?
What are the benefits?
Time commitment?
How does it compare to Alpha Epsilon Delta (pre-health)?

AED has some ugly girls. i would avoid it.

Hi!!!
1.You go to 2 rush events or more(there are 4 total) sign up for an interview and then wait for a bid. we had a big turnout last 2 rush quarters, but everyone has a fair shot-and we dont haze once you are pledging
2.you pledge for a quarter, do activities with your pledge class, cross over and then continue to do community service and fundraising
3. Benefits include having an all premed group to mentor & guide, online test banks, networking with other chapters, insights into programs like STROKE EMRA mobile clinic, leadership opportunity and amazing brotherhood(i guess sisterhood too cuz were co-ed)
4. time commitment during pledge is usually tuesday mtgs for 2 hrs, wed event -1 hr, thursday events 4 hrs-but you will be given a schedule ahead of time
5.AED is pre-health, Phi Delta Epsilon is exclusively premed so we are more focused on the premed track and helping find research and volunteer work to be competitive med school applicants. AED is an honors society and PhiDE is a fraternity so the process may be different just in terms of bonding and active membership.

*I am biased, but PhiDE is great!!! I’ve made some amazing friends and know what I have to do to prepare for med school apps. Being in this fraternity is inspiring because these people not only have the same goal but want you to reach it too. =] Come to Rush!!! week 1= Free Food, no commitment, and opportunity to meet new people ^-^

^ Ive been planning to pledge phide for a while…sounds pretty legit! How many people are currently active in the frat?

we have about 50, but alumni come back to events and so we get a little bigger at large events =]

Yay, please at least come out to rush =D

what happens if one of our classes prevents us from going to some of the events?

well the events during pledge are usually after 7. and rush events are in the late afternoon as well. What time is your class?

Can we join during our first quarter? Do you guys require a resume and DPR like AED does?

Also if anyone has anything to say about AED, please share!

You can join your first quarter!!! We do not have a gpa requirement and interviews do not require a resume. If you find you cannot commit to pledging this quarter, we also have rush in the Spring.

That’s good to know. Thanks for all the inside info, sapphire. :)

I forgot to ask: how much does it cost to be in PhiDE?

Dues vary by quarter. New Member Quarter(aka pledge quarter) is the most expensive but it covers all your activities approx 250-350. Active membership in winter can go from 45-100 and active membership during rush quarters can be from 100-150. We have payment plans and it always changes price due to new sponsorships and fundraising. Hope this helps! We have a relatively low membership rate for a fraternity and if anything we can work out payment plans for special circumstances so don’t let that stop you if you get a bid =]

so what if you spend 250-350 and then you end up not being allowed to cross?

Our requirements are extremely reasonable, believe me, if you get a bid, it’s a great thing and we will invest in you with support to help you along the way. Come out to rush and check us out. One of our events is an info night where you can get any more questions clarified and you can pm if you have any questions that cross your mind before then.
