phi eta sigma

this is an honors society for freshmen who meet certain gpa requirements (3.75 i think). is it worth it to join if it is not very involved? would it look good on a resume or just be a waste of time? anyone have any experience with it?

I'm a member of it, and the only thing I have done with it is gone to the acceptance ceremony where I got my certificate with about 100+ other students. I haven't done a thing since. It doesn't look bad on a resume, so I say why not?

if you have to pay for it, screw it. get real extracurriculars that you can explain when interviewed. If an interviewer asks about phi eta sigma and you say "oh... I went to an initiation ceremony..." you will look like an idiot. You already have your GPA on your resume.

I agree with the above two posters. The one at my school cost like $50 or $75 so I didn't even bother to sign up for it. I'm pretty sure grad schools and employers will already see your GPA and will appreciate more involved extracurricular listings.
