Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) at Umich, how is it?

I'm currently a brother in Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) at Virginia Tech, and I'm trying to transfer to UMich, but a huge part of my decision is how good the FIJI chapter is up there. FIJI has been a huge part of my freshman year, and I really want to stay involved, whether I stay at Vtech or transfer to Michigan. I've checked out their site and it seems like they're similar to our chapter on campus, but you never can really tell until you go to school there....

That being said, my question is: What's FIJI's reputation on campus? Are they known for doing great things around the community/campus, and is their social scene good? Do they have a good reputation among sororities?

Thanks for any responses this thread might get...

i'm almost positive they are on probation on campus. i think they got kicked off for being idiots. not sure though, so i could certainly be wrong, but i believe i recall my friend in SAE telling me they are currently kicked off/on probation and will be back in a year or two.

Oh, I heard about Delta Sig and ZBT, but nothing about FIJI. Grr...I'm gonna definitely have to look into that...

MICHIGAN OTR: Michigan Greek Mythology: Fiji

MICHIGAN OTR: Michigan Greek Mythology: Beta

First one is about PhiGammaDelta, and was posted less than a month ago, so it doesn't sound like they are (/have ever been) on probation.

Fiji (Phi Gamma Delta) isn't on probation, and i have no problem with them. (I think that the frat on probation is the one on State Street with the volleyball net in front of the house.) actually know (or knew for the ones who have graduated) several people in Fiji because they were a part of the University of Michigan Dance Marathon (UMDM). They seem like they always have lots of fun, and the ones I know are also very nice people. Fiji and DG (Delta Gamma for the girls) always seem to have lots of people involved in UMDM.

the volleyball court house is ADPhi.

I did a little research to figure out for sure which frat is on probation. (I don't want to be wrong.) This is what I found (from 2005):

Hazing investigation completed, sanctions imposed

It's not Fiji.

FIJI is a pretty good frat here, they have good sorority relations and they do a lot of community service. I'm a member of a frat at Michigan, not FIJI, so my opinion is definetly not biased.

sweet...definitely gotten some good info...any other opinions would be appreciated:)

The OTR article on FIJI is about dead on. From being in a fraternity (not FIJI), I can tell you that they are a good house. They do have good sorority relations (party with AXO, Alpha Phi, etc) and are really involved around campus. They were kicked off a while ago and recolonized like 5 years ago and have avoided social infractions. They are active in the greek community and win lots of service and greek awards.

HOWEVER, they are very structured and organized. They have the "cookie-cutter" image and a lot of kids in their house (some of them are my friends) are way too obsessed with themselves. They are the exact opposite of the "animal-house" style house (which is what I think a fraternity should be). This may not be a bad thing; it just depends on what you want out of a fraternity.

That's a little disappointing to hear. At Tech, we take a lot of pride in our grades and community service and all, but we definitely know how to rage. =\ I guess I'll just have to decide after visiting.

FIJI definitely has incredible parties (halloween, islander), and they have no problem getting girls over; it's just the guys themselves, but I would visit and see for yourself.
