I just received a letter in the mail inviting me into Phi Theta Kappa, because I've taken 13 hours at Kalamazoo Valley Community College and have a 4.0 GPA there. I'm still a high school senior, so would joining the chapter help in applying to colleges like USC, Cornell, Stanford, Caltech, UMich, or MIT?

Phi Theta Kappa is pretty much like the National Honor Society for community colleges. There’s very little you can do to help your chances at top schools in terms of clubs. People view this all incorrectly, Ivy league schools do not add bonus points for being black or first generation, nor do they add bonus points for amount of clubs or how cool they are. They take these into consideration when trying to determine if you are someone would gain a lot from attending and add to their campus–or their viewbook.
