I'm a senior applying to colleges, and most of the ones I'm interested in are in Philadelphia. For those of you who attend Philadelphia University, do you like going there? How's the science/medical department? Is there a lot of things to do in the area? Is it in a good area, or an area where there's a lot of crime and stuff? Is it a small school? How much scholarship money can you receive- I got a 2130 on my SATs- 1480 without writing.

There's also been a recent article labeling Philadelphia as one of the ugliest cities in America. Do you think its true?

When I went there when it was PCTS. What I can tell u is that it is not located in downtown Philly, so unless u own a car u won't be there alot. 2ND they had a good med program, however, the school was originally named Textiles and Sciences, most students go for the textiles. I also was from nj and many students are also. GOOD LUCK!

My son was offered $12000 for stats that were lower than yours. If you go to their financial aid page on their website they will ask you to fill out a merit award card. You will get a response within a few days. However, I think the max is $13000.

With your stats you could probably do better somewhere else. My son never applied, but they kept calling him and reminding him of their offer. Maybe it's negotiable but I don't know.

Back in my day, they met everyone's financial needs. I had them all NDSL/GSL/Pell/Owens Scholarship and Work study. Philly has a very large donor base. Many of the alumni are very active in fundraising. IF this is where you want to go, finance most likely won't be a major issue. Also go and buy the bok cash 4 college you might be able to get more money.

My cousin is a computer animation major at PhilaU but has to take a bunch of art pre-reqs. What is the most popular art supply store near or on campus? I'd like to get him a gift card there but I don't know much about the area...
