I’m an 11th-grade student in Morocco, applying for 12th-grade.
I have good grades in 10th grade not so good in 9th grade.
I volunteer, babysit, do internships, organised my school prom, I take care of dogs, I do free tutoring for children for parents who can’t help their children and can’t afford to tutor -help them with their homework etc-, I dance and draw.
I need a financial aid. Also haven’t passed my SAT yet, I don’t think that I would have a good score because I haven’t well prepared. I need help in filling my application and my essays.
Your chances are virtually zero.
From a social aspect, it is difficult for a new senior. The vast majority of new seniors at those boarding schools that accept new 12th graders (and most don’t) are athletic recruits, who at least have their team to help with the social integration. Additionally, in the 12th grade, you’ll be applying to colleges, and asking for recs from people who barely know you.
You’d stand a slightly (and very slightly at last) better chance by applying as a repeat 11th grader.
And if I do apply as a 11th grader? If I join a basketball team and have good scores
yes i agree with skieurope^ theres actually a lot of schools that dont even consider accepting seniors (based off of my stalking of many boarding school websites). if you go as a repeat upper, then i suppose it’d be a bit better in terms of your chances? and you also can’t just “join a basketball team” and try to gain admission off of that. i mean, you have to show much more than just that. and its not just scores and teams and athletics – its also about your personality. however, if you wouldn’t mind, could you add your grades, so we can get a better sense of you as a student ?
