Do students root for the Philly teams or their hometown teams? How about if they root for their hometown teams, do they ultimately root for a team like the Phillies if their team is out (in general)?

The city is going nuts! You HAVE to be a Phillies fan (it's a requirement for admission to Penn). Phillies and Eagles rock.

:( I'm normally a fan of Boston teams but Philly is close... New York haters everywhere :P

Go Blue Jays...lol Phillies are cool, too. I mean, they had the clairvoyance to acquire Stairs from the Jays ;)

yeah WASHINGTON NATIONALS

ok yay we all like our teams but would anyone care to answer my question? (unfortunately, only penn students can really answer this)

I think students who go in as strong fans of another team (e.g. Dallas Cowboys) remain fans of that team. That said, it is hard NOT to get caught up in the Philly sports scene and hang out and watch the games. So- dual loyalties do develop. Kids who never cared about baseball at home are now out buying World Series shirts!
