Phillips Andover Life?

I was just what the kids are like there. Is it cliquey? Are there kids about snobby about money? Was it hard adjusting and not knowing anyone? Do people hate their parents or the other way around? Can you go shopping? What are the dorms like? How often do you see your parents? Is it too big or small? I really want to go there but I'm scared if i go i'll hate or get really homesick.

thanks!

The times I’ve visited, I never felt like there were tight cliques or snobby kids. Granted, no place is perfect, so you will probably find a few students that fit the preppy, stuck-up stereotype. Thanksgiving break is 10 days, Winter break is nearly a month, and spring break is almost 3 weeks. The generous breaks allow for lots of time to see one’s family. There’s also a parents’ weekend where the parents visit their children on campus.

As a side note, a lot of information can be found by looking at previous posts on the board or the PA website. Also keep in mind how competitive admission is, especially to Phillips Academy. Do not limit yourself to only one school, especially a school as competitive as Phillips. Regardless, best of luck!

You may want to consider Deerfield and Hotchkiss which are equally good schools and provide a smaller close-knit community. Look for fit, not a brand name.
