Just saw this - I don’t go to Exeter but I remember PExeterA14, a student there, was willing to take questions earlier this month, maybe you could PM them.

Here’s what I learnt from previous posts:

“some dorms are huge, some are smaller. some are “houses” as opposed to actual dormitories. i live in the second-largest dorm on campus, and i think we have 48 girls. the biggest girls’ dorm on campus has like 60 girls, but some of the “houses” have 14 or so. the other dorms are sized comfortably, i’d say around 30 people. it varies!”

Another dorm answer… “My dorm - I love it! I [personally] think its the greatest dorm, because everyones so tight, but you wont hear much about us because we dont really advertise our dorm. I wouldn’t describe it as spacious and comfortable, because i have a triple (dont worry, there are only 2 on campus), but thats just my room. our hallways are huge and our whole basement is our common room. so i would think its spacious. I think you can request dorms if you’re new, but its your parents who do that, i believe. for specific rooms youll have to wait until the end of the year to choose for the next year, and seniority gets priority on that, so youll get first pick at the end of next year. Uppers are mostly sent into houses, if im correct. houses are pretty nice, it seems.”

“Dress code - a commonly asked question, but girls dress code is much more relaxed than the boys. they basically require you to look decent - nothing showing that shouldn’t be showing, nothing incredibly ripped or offensive, etc. teachers have told me that only in the spring does dress code get enforced more often (short shorts, thin t-shirts, tank tops, etc). jeans are definitely okay.”

I looked around, and I don’t think sweatshirts are acceptable, but I may have misinterpreted the post –> “for GIRLS, just don’t wear anything that says “Abercrombie” across it or involves sweats”. Not sure if sweats means both sweatshirts and sweatpants, or just sweatpants, which were discussed earlier in the conversation…

“the nerdy/stressed out question - i dont find myself stressed out usually, only on days when i have more than one test, but im only a prep… might wanna ask about upper year… thats when most of the stressing goes on. nerdy is a very vague term, and mostly how andover portrays us, yes we are a more academically oriented school, but you’ll find that very few of us actually look like what most people perceive as nerds… :P”

Hope this helps :)
