Phillips Exeter Dress Code

You have GOT to be kidding me.

They DID? WOW. I never knew a puke green suit with a red bow tie was something to be so concerned about.

it was PUKE GREEN with a MAROON BOW TIE. okay, puke green, really?!??! that's a HUGE no-no. a bow tie, that's like a century ago. puke green and maroon doesnt even match.

Oh my god, call the fashion police!

TIGER, yes i have read Great Gatsby, and i think i know what your talking about, but their are special beach communities that call themselves towns that are just private areas in california and florida but for regular suberbs, i live near 3 towns that are extremely welathy..... Greenwich, New Canaan, and Darien... . super preppy... all three have one nationals in lacrosse at high school levels.... its all the rich lawyers kids that work in NYC... all those towns are only a 30 min commute to Manhattan.

haha this thread is hilarious...started off with exeter dress code...

haha, this happens with all of them. its liek the game telephone.

Haha it is.

we30--I am familiar with those towns and they are most definitely longer than a 30 minute commute to Manhattan. After you factor in the I-95 traffic, it's more like 2 hours.

yeh, im just saying distance wise, but still its better then most other towns... thats why greenich and towns on long island are super rich becuz they are the nicest places that are close enough to the city... they are in reasonable commute, have metrotrains, and arent in bad areas... so an acre is somewhere in the 7 digits.

.. well, manhattan's a nice place and it's actually IN the city, so.. :D

upper west side ftw!

Oh life's dilemmas...

Anyways, back to topic; Exeter's dress-code is pretty lax for girls, it usually just means that you have to look 'nice', haha. Meaning no torn jeans, no super-low necks, no spaghetti straps, no graphic prints etc.

I think I could live with the guys as well; simple shirt and tie, no worrying about what you're gonna wear tomorrow etc.

yeh, well if you can afford those 8digit appartments that are probably 500 square feet, then cheers to you lol... once you get outside manhattan, it aint so fun haha.... most people work in manhattan and if they have kids, they will usually live in suburbs like greenwich and sned there kids to BS, or magnet schools in NYC, or schools like New Canaan Country Day or Greenwich Country Day.... just a bunch of private schools.

One thing I've always wondered when it comes to dress codes: what exactly qualifies as too low of a neckline? How much cleavage is too much? Is it simply not allowed? Because for me, the only way to prevent it is a tee shirt or a turtle neck. It all seems very subjective to me.

hahah, cant wait to meet you starcrossed lol... im sure they understand, but they would probably prefer that you fully button up your shirts... there are dresses or nice girls clothes that dont have low necklines.

Haha, you have me there -- I prefer to leave buttons undone, although even if they are all done, it doesn't always keep them where they should be.

I've been pretty spoiled at my school. They are crap at enforcing anything! Part of our dress code is that boys can't sag their pants...HA. I can't tell you how many times a day I see boxers. It's kinda gross, actually, it's really gross. That will be one plus!!

I'm meaning like reallllly revealing... where if you pulled your shirt down 1cm it'd show your bra, or something... I don't know, that's what I read.

i like exeters dress code. look nice and you are good. if you chest is spilling out of your shirt, you will probably be asked to change... maybe 1/5th of the time. really. just don't be a floozy, and i think no one will care.

yeh, just look apropriate.

if you stick to j. crew, vineyards, and brooks brothers, you'll definitely be fine

Yeah, except, I can't afford anything like that. I can't even afford Aeropostale.
