Phillips Exeter, Phillips Andover, St. Paul's: What are my chances?

Hello people! So I’m applying for 10th grade. I am female, applying for financial aid and my parents are immigrants from the Philippines.

Interviews: Gosh, these prep school campuses are so beautiful!! I think my interviews went really well. They seemed to like me and we had easy conversation. I’m pretty sure they were impressed.

Recommendations: I have A’s in all of my classes, so my teachers have a good impression of me. They most likely wrote good recommendations.

SSAT Score Percentiles:
Math - 99
Reading - 96
Verbal - 83 (I shouldn’t have attempted all the questions!!)
Overall - 95

Character Skills Snapshot:
I got the highest scoring, “Demonstrating” in all of the 8 areas, except for Initiative, where I got the middle score (there are 3 possible scores).

Grades (last year):

History- 99
Latin- 95

Biology- 96

English- 99
Geometry- 95
Chemistry- 96

Cumulative GPA- 4.000
Cumulative Weighted GPA- 4.231
Total Credits Earned- 4.33

I have been on the Principal’s List, the highest possible distinction, every year since it was offered, so since middle school. I have never gotten anything less than an A- (90) in my life.

Extra-Curriculars:

Piano: I think this is my strongest hook, if it is one… I’m a classically-trained pianist. My teacher (of 8 years) actually also teaches at Phillips Exeter and she wrote my special-interest recommendation. I have performed as a soloist with orchestras several times. I have performed in Carnegie Hall twice. I have won several local, national, and international competitions. I have received two commendations from my state’s governor and senator. I have been invited to attend and festivals in several countries, but due to financial reasons, have not, except for one music festival in Germany.

Dance: I had been dancing at a local dance studio from the age of 2, several times a week. I performed in the annual productions. One production, I performed as a lead. I got to performed in a trio, alongside a professional dancer and a broadway dancer.

FLL: I’ve done 5 years in FLL and our teams has been awarded several 1st place awards in the qualifying and state tournaments.

Track & Field: In 2016, I got three 3rd place medals at the division meet. In 2017, I got 1st place in long jump, and 3rd place for 100m dash and qualified for States, although I didn’t win anything there.

Hiking: I’ve been hiking since I was 4. During the summer, we usually go 1 or two mountains hikes a week. Of the 48 4000-footers in New Hampshire, I have hiked six, and one in Vermont.

Technology Student Association: I got 3rd place and 1st place in two events at the state competition.

Coding/Design: My projects have been featured on Scratch MIT Media Lab page and their blog.

Art: I draw pencil sketches of still life and portraits for fun.

I’ve participated in several math and science teams, sometimes winning awards.

Yep, I sent in a ton of links of my art portfolio, music performances, coded projects, and track & field.

Do you think I have an okay chance? I dunno if it’s harder to get in for 10th grade, but we’ll see!

Alas, 10th grade is usually more challenging to get into, since there are fewer spots available. You seem like you would be a strong applicant, were it not for your F/A requirements. Needing F/A will, depending on the school you’re interested in, make admissions a bit of a crapshoot. You seem like a great person, and I hope the schools will see that, but nothing is 100% certain. As a side note, I used to be a Scratcher myself before application season started off! May I PM you?

Sure, why not? And also, apparently Andover has a need-blind policy so fingers crossed!!

For future applicants: I got accepted to Phillips Academy Andover with a HUGE scholarship. I asked for 80% and received 93% tuition covered. I got waitlisted for Exeter and St. Paul’s…

Congrats @applicant92034, thats great!
