Phillips Exeter Summer School?

Hi! I'm in 7th grade, and I want to know how competitive the admissions for Access Exeter is without applying for Financial Aid.

Hey Jpark18, are you applying for the Fall 2013-14 year as well?

No, i’m not applying for the 2013-2014 term

They accept 780 students every year with an approximate 20~% acceptance rate. It is slightly less selective as applying for the regular school term.

I have average grades (A and Bs), but I think I got good recommendations from my Counselor, English and Math teachers, will that be okay? I also wrote a pretty good Essay, where I wrote about a book club that I’m hosting with my friends, and me getting accepted to my school’s voluntary band. Will applying early give me more chance of getting accepted?

Also, I have a Korean-american background, and I attend an international school in Korea. Some extracurricular I do are AMC 8, competing in Basketball tournaments, harmonica (2 years), clarinet (4 years), and piano (1 year). I am on a honor roll in my school.

Applying early will not affect you in anyway. The thing with Exeter is that it’s considered the best of the best. (I disagree). So they want more than just well-roundedness. You seem very well-rounded in the sense that you have everything, but they want the extra step. The summer program is less selective though so I’d say your chances are pretty good.

Ok. Thank you so much for the help!

Will you get a Rejection letter from Phillips Exeter if you get rejected, or will you get no replies? My school have sent my transcripts and personal essay through the mail and it arrived at Exeter on the 8th. Still, I did not get any reply from the school.

Exeter has a rolling admissions for summer. The first “batch” went out in December. You can probably accept the next “batch” to be around March or after. They will mail out a rejection letter if that is the case.

Oh my god! I just found a email titled “Accept Exeter Summer school 2013”. I got accepted! Thank you very much for your help.
