We live about two hours from Philly so obviously the schools there are in an attractive location. I've heard lots of people mention Temple, Drexel, and Villanova but don't know much about them. How are the academics (I think I'll be an English major)? What is the student body like? Other schools I'm considering are Davidson, UVA, Boston U. Fordham, Trinity, Furman. How do they compare to those? I have a 3.9 and 2320 SAT but as I will get on need-based aid anywhere I am trying to find "the best school with the most merit aid." Thanks!

I’m a current Temple student and a former BU student, so I can certainly answer any questions about either school for you. With a 3.9 2320, you would very likely receive a full ride with entrance to the honors program at Temple. English is definitely a popular choice here. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Definitely go to the 3 Philly schools over the others. Temple and 'Nova get bonus points for Big 5, and Drexel is more known for engineering than English

You have a good shot at getting into UPenn.

Thanks, but I’m not going to qualify for any need-based aid, so the Ivies are out.
