Philosophy at BC

Has anyone one been in the program or know much about it. Is the jesuit tradition a big part of the program or not? How are the professors? etc…

I’ll try to help as much as I can, although I’ve only taken the philosophy core, and much of what I know about the upper-level classes is secondhand from friends.

The Jesuit tradition is one part of the Philosophy program, because many of the professors are Jesuits themselves. They promote open-minded discussion, and respectful dialogue on both philosophy and theology.

The professors are considered to be among the best in the university, particularly due to their Jesuit tradition. Some are more well-known than other (ex: Kerry Cronin coming to mind), but they are all definitely qualified.
