<p>I'm going to apply to Berk next year for Philosophy. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the department is like</p>
<p>Berkeley’s philosophy department is changing. Some of the most famous professors are getting old (Searle, Stroud, and Dreyfus), though they are still teaching now. Whether they will be teaching Fall 2009 and beyond is anyone’s guess.</p>
<p>The department is very strong in logic, philosophy of language, philosophy of mind, philosophy of mathematics, that kind of thing. It’s weaker in continental philosophy, ethics, and political philosophy, I think.</p>
