I'm thinking of taking a lower div philosophy classes, but nearly all of them have long waitlists right now. Does the dept. usually open up more space for people interested? I checked Fall 2009 class enrollments and those class sizes are significantly larger than the limits for Spring 10 ones.

Bump…anyone know how the profs usually feel? I’m at the very END of the waitlist. Need to know if it’s worth waiting for.

I’m wondering the same thing. If you find out, please tell me!

I e-mailed last Wed and finally got a response:

"Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, it’s unlikely you’ll get into the
class if you’re higher than number 12 or 13 on the waitlist.

Janet Groome
Undergraduate Assistant - Philosophy"

wow…that’s really unfortunate.

Was there a class in particular that you wanted to take?

I wanted to take Nature of Mind. Maybe see if I’m interested at all in philosophy as a major. What about you? What are you taking instead?

well I’m at the city college starting next semester, philosopher major hoping to transfer fall 2011. They have a concurrent enrollment with UCB so I wanted to take either 12a-Logic or 25b-History of Modern Philosophy to satisfy lower devision requirements. I’ll still end up doing concurrent enrollment since BCC has barely any classes and fewer sections. there’s still a lot of seats open in political theory so I’ll probably do that. Really bummed though, hopefully the summer session isn’t as bad.
