What's goin on everybody?
Planning on applying this semester as a transfer from Santa Monica College to all the UC's and USC. If anyone can chance me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Ethnicity: Asian
Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.60 (will be around 3.65 by end of this semester)
Major GPA: 3.75
Missing English 2 from IGETC and 1 phil pre-reqs (both will be taken next semester)

ECs: Not much other than all the jobs I've had in the past. Had to support myself after getting kicked out of high school so I've been focusing more on working than studying. Been working 25~30 hours a week for the past 3 years.

I have 7 W's on my transcript. How bad will this hurt me?
Will I have a shot at UCLA and UCB? USC?

Hello, I’m a Phil major and applied this past application cycle. My stats aren’t actually that different from yours. I had a 3.6X GPA, worked quite a bit during the school year, IGETC fully completed, and I also had 3 W’s on my transcript. I dont think I had any prereqs completed for Berkeley as i couldn’t find anywhere close that had them. I had fully completed prereqs everywhere else though. I applied to Berkeley, SD, SB, and Irvine and was accepted everywhere. So you def have a pretty good chance. Make sure you highlight your work experience and submit a killer essay. I’m pretty sure that’s what got me into Cal. I don’t think the ucs really care about the W’s. After talking to an admissions officer at UCSD, he said they just cross them out and don’t worry about them unless its the same class multiple times or some red flag of that nature.

If I remember correctly the average GPA for those accepted to the Phil major at UCLA was right around 3.6 and those who actually matriculated were around 3.56. I would give you the link, but I’m on my phone. Just Google UCLA transfer profile.

I have no clue about USC as I’ve never looked into the school and requirements, averages, etc.
