What's the major like at Harvard? Is it an especially difficult one? Is there much interaction with professors? What are the kids typically like? How flexible is the major? Thanks.

Also, how big is the major?

Don't have too much personal interaction with the Philosophy dept. (although my TF for "Justice" was a Phil grad student, and the best TF I've had at Harvard).

But I have a couple of friends who study Philosophy and really love it. You have to be a certain type to appreciate the material, but if you do, Harvard's profs are top-notch, and it's a small, close-knit concentration. Philosophy MBB is an interesting option - it's a special track within Philosophy that allows you to take Psych + Neurobio classes for concentration credit.

Here's the link to the philosophy department in the student handbook: FAS Handbook for Students: Chapter 3: Fields of Concentration There are generally 50 to 60 concentrators.
