Phone call from Cornell student...?

I just got off the phone with a Cornell student who asked me a couple of questions about my interest in Cornell. At the end of the conversation she said, "I'm looking forward to seeing you next fall." I already finished my application and sent it in a month or so ago. Has anyone else gotten a similar phone call?

Well, I went to an informational meeting that was offered in my area, although I have never asked for it. Apparently, even if you are not HM applicant, you still get to ask questions and etc about Cornell. Usually in areas where there aren't any Cornell Alumnus to do the session, they resort to the phone call. So that could be it.

Is it a tell tale sign of rejection if you don't get a phone call/interview? I applied ED for CALS.

Nope. It just means that there isn't an available Cornell alumnus near your area. Read the old posts (3days ago?) about the informational meeting stuff.

It's just a nice thing that people say. It means nothing. I went on a bunch of interviews for med schools and heard a lot of "I look forward to seeing you next fall," "there's no way you won't get accepted," "you have a really strong application," "I can only hope you pick us from your med school acceptances," and most of the time I wasn't even accepted.

Nonetheless, the alumnus will still submit the session report, no? For desperate applicant like myself, even that seems like a blessing. Oh just one more letter about me! Though it could go either way..

A report is submitted but keep in mind, most reports will have nice things to say. Most applicants are going to come with questions prepared and will be polite. It's hard to stand out at an interview, except in a bad way. In the end, most of these reports just cancel each other out.

Ah, I have not thought of that. Nonetheless, I'd do anything to talk and listen more about Cornell. It makes me happy. Irregardless of the future decisions, I will always cherish the session. We feel bitter about even the nicest kind of dreams when we wake up, but that doesn't stop us from hoping to dream a dream like that again, does it?

the only programs that NEED an interview are architecture and the hotel school. dont be discouraged if you dont get an interview or even a call from an alum.

That's a nice attitude to have, Jaysong. However, ...'irregardless'....nope.

Whoa, I have not realized that I wrote 'irregardless'. I meant 'regardless'. Doube negative alert!

I think we you not all talking about the same thing in this thread. the op is referring to a "Cornell student," not an alumnus. (or maybe the op was just confused about who he or she was conversing with.)

I never got a call from a student CALS ED so that zoo person shouldnt worry.

it seems very unusual to me to want to talk about Cornell that much. to me it is a (great!) place to attend school not like a wonderland of dreams.

crap.. my parents told me they got a call from someone at cornell who sounded like a student but when asked if i was available (i wasnt home) they said no, and asked if the person could call back again after 6..

havent heard back. but my dad called them again and was told they had called the wrong student. wthhhhh

so yea, looking at a few other schools.

^maybe they actually called the wrong person.
