phone call from HumEc Cornell alumni?

Yes. I got excited after the call and tried to over analyze these things. (I have mentioned that I have no solid proof. It’s just my personal thinking and speculating and “2 cents” as people call it :)) Thanks norcalguy for checking and balancing me. I’m also a newbie in terms of posting on these online posts. So consider this as an excited senior’s expression and rant; I felt that I needed a space to do this. I guess I just want HumEc really bad.

Nah, I was playing Devil’s Advocate. I honestly don’t know if it means something or not but, trust me, I wouldn’t put it past schools to jerk its applicants around.

i know this is an old thread, but i just got that same phone call from a cornell student (ive had an interview with an alum a few months ago)…did it end up meaning anything for you? were you accepted? jw…

I just got the phone call as well… Haha. Did this mean anything? I had no interview

I also got the phone call haha but I did have an alumni interview. I felt bad that I didn’t have any questions :(

D just got the call too. Don’t feel bad, D’s first comment to me was that she felt terrible that she didn’t have any questions for the caller.

To those of you who are receiving these calls: what are your/your student’s stats (if you don’t mind sharing) ? Thank you :)

I also got the call and am wondering the same thing! The student was someone with my exact intended major which is interesting…

98.5 gpa, 1470 sat (CR + W), 32 ACT

i got a phone call too! except i wasn’t home and my parents picked up… but she left an email and i emailed her with questions and she replied back very quickly with great answers. i’m getting my hopes up, i LOVE cornell and i LOVE humec. my stats: 3.93 uw, 4.36 w, 1460 CR+Math (770 writing). ugh I REALLY HOPE it means something!

D got the call - stats 3.8gpa uw, 31 ACT

Let’s put it this way – I’m pretty sure that Cornell doesn’t sift through the applications, pick out a bunch that they’ve decided to reject and then call them.

So, it’s either neutral or positive – no idea which.

I got the call too. So no one knows if it means anything good? Why would they call us in March just to see if we have questions if they didn’t think we were qualified?

mine was from someone with the same major as well, nutritional sciences. i find it odd that they call us in march and ask if we have any questions…like i feel like pretty much all decisions have been made by now and i dont really understand why they would care if we really had any “questions” (not to sound pessimistic).

anyways my sat is 2150, gpa 4.25

got the call! i feel so bad because i was about to head into a class and the caller had to give me their email ):

3.9 uw; 1560 CR + M (2240 Superscore)

we all sound like generally qualified applicants. at least better than the average, right? …4.6 gpa, 2240 superscored

I think I got a similar thing, with two major differences. I applied to CALS, not HumEc, and there was no phone call (at least that I know of…maybe I ignored it and they didn’t leave a message?). Instead, I got an e-mail on Feb. 24th saying the exact same thing - alumni, same major as me, interested if I had any questions. I replied a day later, but still no answer. Maybe I should have called instead?

Anyway, I also got an alumni interview, NY, stats are 3.7/2300 SAT, URM.

And as for what it means about our chances…I like to believe that it means we stood out during the application process. No way to find out for sure until the 29th, though. :)

How do you guys know that not everyone got the phone call? Just wondering because nobody else at my school applied to Human Ecology.

we DON’T know… but we’re just all a bunch of hopeless seniors trying to squeeze the best out of any sign and praying that we’re all just good enough to get admitted. it’s funny what your brain will tell you when you’re this desperate to attend a school you love.

^^^ haha well put. Does anyone know a Humec applicant that did not receive a phone call/email?
