<p>My daughter had the same experience after appyling last year. South Carolina does a fantastic job of making a large school feel small, and these kinds of communication are a part of that effort. The call was to let the student know their application was received and answer any questions they might have. Good luck!</p>
<p>You are right Donho they do a great job of making it personal. My daughter received many calls after she applied, I couldn't believe it. Also OP don't be surprised if you get an early acceptance. My daughter applied early action which was due October 1 last year. We were told an answer would come in Dec. but she found out the last week of Oct. It was very exciting for her. Good luck!</p>
<p>They may have changed from rolling admissions due to the fact that the last two years they had such a high yield that they had to cut off admissions early both years. A friend of one D's roommates was actually admitted with a January (second semester) enrollment last year.</p>
<p>South Carolina's star is rising and it is being evidenced in the annually higher freshman class profiles as well as the number of OOS students who are now applying because of the strong merit aid that is offered.</p>
<p>Many of the top college publications are all now calling USC an "up and comer."</p>
