phone call

does CMU call everyone to tell them that they have received the application and ask if they have any questions?

I got a mail packet this week with some information and a cd. They also listed the stuff they have received and those that they don't have.

Yeah, I got a call from CMU today too at around 6:00 pm CST. They said my file was complete and was being reviewed. They also said I should receive a decision after the 15th of March. I received the alumni interview directory last week and i was going to schedule one for this week. But now if they say the file is complete do u guys think i should go for one? Not having done an interview, would that be a negative? wut do u all suggest?

depends howww good ur stats are i wud say

I was also wondering if an alumni interview would be helpful, either from an admissions standpoint or simply to find out about some other experiences (including whether the CMU degree offers any advantage in hiring or salary).
To Mezzmerized: My son go the packet, but did not receive a phone call. The website states that they do have all of his materials, though.

march 15th, my bday. lets hope for good news.

Okay...this is weird. I got this same call about two days ago, it was a girl named Sarah who worked at CMU. She called me and told me pretty much the same thing....but the odd thing is..I applied ED and I got rejected to CIT. What is going on? Oo oO

CIT - as in California Institute of Technology?

No, CIT as in Carnegie Insitute of Technology. My stats were 1400 SAT ~620 SAT II's, 4.0.

What was your rank?

My school does not rank.

I received a call tonight from an admissions person. I'm not an extremely strong applicant (1350, around 680 SAT IIs, 4.25 GPA, good essay, good ECs, good recs, #3 in class). I'm applying to MCS. Do you think I should schedule an interview??? How much will it help? I think that the admissions person said that all of my materials had been received, not that they had necesarily all been reviewed.

did everyone receive a call or do they call just certain applicants?

We didn't receive a call. My S was admitted in the first ED cycle.

I didn't get one either and I applied RD to Tepper...

I assumed that it was to RD and ED deffered applicants. I got the call as well.

For those of you considering interviews I would suggest scheduling one.

My S did one two years ago near our home with an alum and it was a great experience.

I recently contacting their admissions office about scheduling an interview and they said not to worry about it.

Were you trying to schedule with an alumni or admissions office? Why do you think they said not to worry about it?

If it is any relief of anxiety, my experience has been if you receive a phone call...you're in. It may not be the program of your choice, but you're in!!!! Congrats. Once there, you can transfer to the program of your choice if you prove you can handle the workload. GOOD LUCK!!!
