Anyone ever feel a loss of words while on the phone, or sometimes even in person (esp wit girls)? Texting is a lot easier in that menner, but sometimes when you do call, what are some ways to keep the convo interesting over the phone?

Come on, it happens to everyone. Generally, I’m pretty good at keeping up a conversation, so I’ll just say something random.

I will admit, though, talking to someone who you barely know at all will result in many, many of these awkward silences.

Know what was awkward? My friend called me after he was rejected from his favorite school. Most depressing and quiet phone call the two of us have ever had.

I haaaate phone calls so much! In person you see someone’s body language so you can use that, and in texting/IMing you have time to think about your response. In phone calls you get neither body language nor time to think. So pretty much phones should be eliminated forever.

Lol, I like hearing the person’s voice, but just hate the awkward silences. Esp. if it’s a phone interview or something.

Yeah, I actually enjoy phone conversations, but they don’t last longer than an hour (even with girls). There are some notable exceptions though. I usually cut off the conversation if I start to get bored.

I prefer to think things out and write them… phone conversations can turn out unexpected twists (especially with girls).

but then again… I have a list of icebreakers to use for awkward conversations…

haha gryffon care to share some of those icebreakers? sound interesting

It happens all the time, even with people u really know, it’s like “silence” so what I usually do is say “Awkward silence!”
and that will take away the weirdness because now u can talk to whoever you’re talking to about awkward silences!

Ha, I tend to say an extended version of “So…” Then you look around your room and randomly talk about an item. Pokemon are almost always successful for conversation breakers.

lmao. good old pokemon
