<p>Hi, I just completed a phone interview with a company. At the beginning, they asked me why I wanted to work for the company. After I answered, the interviewer started to explain about what the company is all about. After his explanation, I responded and posed a question. Then he gave me a detailed answer and then I just kept on asking questions. The interview was about 35 mins. 25 mins was dedicated to the interviewer answering my questions. So I'm wondering, why did the interviewer only ask me 1 question and that was it. He did not want to know anything else about me. What does this mean???

<p>Some interviewers prefer more of a give and take, as opposed to the traditional interview format. Interviewers aren’t usually looking for ‘strong’ answers to specific questions, just an overall sense of what kind of person the interviewee is. </p>
<p>That being said, I suspect you asked too many questions. It’s pretty standard in interviews for the employer to give an overview of the company and the position before he starts grilling you. You probably should have stopped after your first question and waited for him to speak. Showing interest with intelligent questions is good, but you need to let the interviewer dictate the pace of the interview.</p>

<p>Some companies want to see if an applicant is truly interested and knowledgeable about the company. A lack of interest in the internship/job during the interview turns off many employers. They want interviewees to ask questions to see what kind of personality they have and if they are truly a good fit for the company.</p>
