I've been waitlisted at a few colleges, including my first choice. I've prepared a letter to the admissions office and a timeline of what I've been doing since January. However, I've also been told to talk with an AdCom.

Here's my question: what should I say? I have this scenario looping in my head..

Ring ... Ring ... Ring ... Admissions Office. How may I help you?

Me:> Hi, I've been waitlisted and I just wanted to point out that this is my first choice school and I would jump at the oppertunity to go if I were taken off the waitlist.

Ok, is there anything I can help you with?

Me:> Uh, ummm, no.

Goodbye!

Any suggestions?

well, it would be nice to see your waitlist essay. i think that it will be your most concrete statement about your desire to attend your first choice school.

I'm clueless about calling the admissions office too because the people who answer the phones are not the ones who make the actual decision. But if I just flat out ask to speak to an admissions officer on call, i'm afraid they'll ask for what purpose and i'll just be 'ummm, because i love this school?!?'.
People write 'call the school to show your interest', but I could really use a bit more information on how to go about that as well.

Haha I have the same problem.

Yeah, I hate calling because the people who answer, are either very uptight, or clueless....but do it....

"The worst struggles are the ones we choose not to make"

Same problem. How do you talk to an adcom and what do you say?
