Are the Plebe Candidates given their phones after Indoc or are they kept as a privilege? So email or IM'ing is how we will communicate for a while? Also I understand they were going to be given their computers today(Wed) when will email be activated?

Email was active when they GOT their computer.
I was guilty of 'pre-sending email'... I'd try firstname.lastname.2012@usmma.edu; when it stopped getting rejected for 'no such user name', then I knew that sooner or later, he'd get my 'letters';

For phones, last year they were all kept, and only handed out for a short period on Sunday. SOME companies seemed more strict than others. Some kids had theirs for many hours on Sunday, others got them for no longer than the proscribed time (painfully short... that was the one our kid was in :( ) Oh well, he's not much of a yacker anyway.

My son had his in his football locker and the coach would allow them to use them periodically. (Then of course, there was the "let's see if I can get away with this time.") I remember Indoc taking forever to be overwith. My son even "missed" his 18th birthday, due to it. (So, I got him this year for his birthday!) Once school starts, their time is so limited that you will be lucky to hear from him once a week. (Unless they are a real talker.) What I did, was to sign up for AIM (AOL instant messanger) and bring it up every evening until I saw him online. Then I got to "talk" to him in the evening when he was "studying". I truly think MY adjustment was more difficult than his. I hope zonker will still do our "CC name badges" for Parent's Weekend, which in reality it considered "Sister's Weekend" to the potential midshipmen. Got some great pictures during that time and even used one for my Christmas card. Looking forward to meeting all of you.
