Hi,

So I guess that we have phones here that we have to keep in our rooms in case of emergency or something. I can make calls out on it by dialing "9" and then the area code, etc... I was wondering if

1) it costs anything to make a local call, and

2) is there any way to set up voicemail on it?

I tried to call housing services... but they were, well, they're typical housing services :(

Plz help.

If I recall, the landlines are done through PennInTouch.

Also if I recall, nobody has plugged in a landline since 2002...

Local calls (215 and 267 area codes) are free; anything else gets charged long distance fees, although domestic calls are cheaper than international. You're supposed to get a "PAC" (Personal...something something) for non-local calls so you get billed for them. You should be able to look it up on the website (Student Telephone Services?); last time I tried it didn't work though.

You need to pay extra for voicemail. Info is also on the website.

Haha, I'm cheap and use my landline quite a bit; saves on the cell phone minutes ;)

The only time I've ever used a dorm landline was to prank call my hallmates who were doing the same.

my landline plain doesn't work

not like we use it anyway
