Photocopy of SAT scores?

i heard that in addition to sending the score report from the collegeboard, you are required to make a photocopy of each of your sat's and sat2's and send it to USC. is this true?

If USC will receive the official score report from College Board before or close to the USC application deadline, you don’t have to self report. If you think there will be a delay, send them. To play it safe, I’d make the photocopy and send it just to sleep better at night.

CC411 - I think you’ve talked to admissions about this question, and I want to thank you for your constant help with all these repetitive questions! My son’s SAT scores were sent in June. Do you have the sense that it would help to send photocopies with Form 5, just in case they have trouble locating a report that was sent that long ago? Or was the admissions office completely clear that scores sent well before the deadline are enough to allow the applicant to skip sending in Form 5? Thanks!

One of the nice things about the USC application process is that although the APPLICATION must be postmarked or sent online by the due date, there is a little leeway on the supplemental forms like recommendations, test scores, and transcripts. They would really like them in by the due date, but if it is a week or two (or sometimes even more) late, that is OK.
(Sorry- I know that wasn’t your exact question- that was just to make you not worry.)

If you sent the scores in June, you should definitely be OK. When USC receives its first communication from an applicant, his or her file is started. It doesn’t just float around waiting for the app. So, I would feel confident that your son’s June scores are in his USC file and everything is OK.

But if it is keeping you up at night, send in Form 5 with a photocopy of his score report. It can’t hurt. Or, just wait until your son has submitted his app, then you can do a status check online to see if they have everything. Also, if by some fluke the scores are not in his file when they receive his app, they will send you a status report saying you need to send his scores or whatever else is missing. As long as they are sent in a timely manner, it is OK.

(This must be your first child applying now- don’t worry, it gets easier. And you too, will enjoy coming on here and helping others!)

Thank you cc411! I guess I should’ve had more kids, since I’ll only have one more chance to apply what I’m learning now. DS is applying to one of those majors with a whole separate app process, so it’s been rather more perplexing than for other colleges that use the common app. I just don’t want to let anything mess it up, and it’s nice to have someone we can ask without bugging the admissions office.
