Just wondering.. did anyone submit your picture when you applied to UPenn?

i did. thought it was quite strange. maybe its to check URM status?

I posted mine on my app. I had met with my admissions rep when she visited my school, and she told me to put the picture on my app so that'd she'd remember me.

I guess she remembered, because I was accepted :)

yeah, I sent one too. I was accepted...

maybe a picture makes a difference?

yeah i doubt it. i sent one and i got rejected. my dad told me i shoulda sent in a picture of a black kid. I laughed hysterically at the time, but sadly it coulda made the difference...

haha yeah I hate that race is considered in the applications.

Me and a friend both applied to Princeton. I have higher scores than her, more ECs, more APs taken, a higher GPA. But she's black/native american, and I'm white. She was accepted, I was rejected.

/cry

I didn't send one and got accepted.

I'm sure that more went into the decision than her race.
I, by the by, did not send in a picture. I'm Native American but look white. I also was accepted ED.

Wanted to send Brad Pitt's picture, but thought it was to insolent.)) Didn't send anything and got admitted. I guess there is no correlation between whether you send the picture or not and the decision.

I sent a picture (most likely, the reason why i got accepted ;-) )

I've heard its easier for them to remember the applications. Frankly, as an adcom I would probably benefit from a picture to keep track of the applicants. And maybe the picture reminds them of a meeting with the applicant during an info session. Seriously, I doubt that "looks" is an admission factor and don't need a picture to find out your race. More likely they use the information that you give them when you answer the question: What's your race/ethnicity?

Once you get here you will see the evidence that looks are not an admission factor.

Is it that bad?))

I sent a picture and got in for my good looks.

I can't find any other reason why they would've accepted me.

Of the five blacks i know who applied to Penn this year, only one was accepted (and he applied ED)-it happens...

I included a picture of myself, and was waitlisted (guess i'm not "hot" enough for penn :p)

^if thats the case then you have got to be butt ugly.

no, i think the people who sent in pics and were rejected must be "butt ugly" (j/k)

Hmm,
I have a question.
What type of pictures did you guys send in?
Like casuals pictures with friends, or the typical, studio shot, senior picture?
Because I have 2 studio pictures - 1 with my in a business suit smiling, and the other me looking like a high end male model lol!
And of course, we all know looks subconsciously influence people, so which one do you think would be better to choose?
Too bad my regional director is male though, so I don't know how that'd play out!

would you just upload it to the online app?

Yeah, I guess I would, that's why I'm wondering which one to choose O_o
Because someone might think a suit pic is pompous, while others would understand that it's a senior picture etc.

Lol, hm I'm wondering if they'd prefer to see you in your natural attire.. good question,. sorry I was no help at all
