Photographic Memory

angstridden , that's awesome. :)

i have a question to all of you awesome people who have photographic memory. . .

I can memorize graphics, but I can never seem to put them to good use. for example, I can't "examine" pages of a book during a test. . .However, I can probably memorize a list of ten digits by looking at it for two seconds. . .

is this some really underdeveloped, pathetic form of photographic memory or am I just being hopelessly hopeful?

is there anyway I can develop it?

When you memorize it, are you able to visually memorize it and literally see a picture in your brain of the numbers or not?

yes. . .I recite it by reproducing the picture. . .however, the picture disappears really fast. . .I won't be able to remember after like a minute

I'm not an expert on photographic memory, but I think you have an underdeveloped form of photographic memory. It isn't pathetic and hopelessly hopeful, and I really don't know how you can develop your memory. But, I do know that it is possible to develop it.

Is photographic memory a genetic thing? Any chance I could harness the power? Wishful thinking I'm looking at this thread every few seconds and closing my eyes... And everything goes black.

hmm..both my parents don't have photographic memory..my dad has good memory, but it isn't photographic...my mom has average memory, and it's not photographic..if it is genetic..i don't know where i got it..i'm not sure if you can harness it, you research it and see if you can..

I'm sure a lot of you have excellent memories, but many don't seem to qualify as a "photographic" memory as described here. Read up on it if you get a chance, it's much more powerful than being able to visualize something simple you read or saw in the past. People with photographic memories can memorize entire restaurant menus after looking at them once. Many can recall every day of their adult lives.

^^ he (or she) is right.

But, that's the whole point..my memory as a whole overall sucks..but my brain manages to zoom in take pictures of what I need to remember or of the whole thing, and store them in brain until I make myself forget, so that I can have more space to store the pictures..

... i must have run out of film

lol..sometimes i do.. i just totally forget what i was doing or i just blank out for awhile..
