Anyone know of someone who has done a dual major in Photography and Performing Arts [voice, drama or dance specificly]? Realizing that it would in all likelihood involve more than four years to complete.

If so, where did they find that opportunity?

Thanks, taxguy, I'll have her do that. You always seem to be in touch with the photography angle [no pun intended]. Is there a personal connection for you? Your D is into graphic design right?

Believersmom, Yes, my daughter is into both graphic design and digital design. My wife is a photography bug who is a published commercial designer. Since my daughter is interested in digital media, we also check out digital photography programs too. I think the above schools will meet your needs. However, you really need to check out the schools and their culture. As I researched schools, I was amazed at how different schools have varied in terms of offerings, culture, quality of facilities etc.

I should note that the above-noted schools have strong reputations in both areas. I don't know however, if you can have a duel major in both areas. I would suspect that if you are willing to put in an extra year of so, you wouldn't have a problem. Also, you may need to be accepted into both programs in order to have a duel major. This means that you need to audition for performing arts and maybe have to submit a portfolio ( maybe, but not sure) for photography. Certainly there will be differing requirements for admission to each major.

You might also want to check out:
Emerson college,
Bennington College in Vermont
Brigham Young in Utah
Bard College

Brown Might have something especially with RISD next door.

also check out the Princeton Review web site for matches as to your major interests and GPA etc in their counselor matic. Good luck

"Also, you may need to be accepted into both programs in order to have a duel major. This means that you need to audition for performing arts and maybe have to submit a portfolio..."

Yeah...slice me off a big piece of that stress! "Honey, you have to get in three ways, academicly, audition and portfolio." At least if the kid can get through all that, she should be able to handle the work load---hopefully! :)
