<p>Self-portraiture today is such a wide genre. In the contemporary world a self-portrait no longer has to be about likeness, nor is a portrait for that matter. I would say it is pretty safe to call it a self-portrait if it tells something about your character. Lee Friedlander is quite well known for his self-portraits, Cindy Sherman has widely expanded the idea of a self-portrait as well. Self-portraiture goes back to the 15th century, so there is a lot to draw on.</p>
